Kathryn is an investigative reporter and writer.
She has covered domestic extremism, the foster care system, and troubled rehab facilities, focusing on how institutions shape people's lives. Her reporting has been published in ProPublica, The Los Angeles Times, KQED, and PBS FRONTLINE.
In 2021, she received a George Polk Award and an Edward R. Murrow Award for her reporting in the PBS documentary American Insurrection.
Currently, she is a reporter at UC Berkeley's nonprofit newsroom, The Investigative Reporting Program, where she covers the child welfare system. She holds a master's degree in journalism from Berkeley.
